February Pub Night: Mobilization in support of Bill C-279

Mobilization in support of Bill C-279 

Pub Night is on 8th February and  is as early as it can be and still be the second Wednesday of the Month.  So don't be fooled.

Currently Bill C-279 is before the House of Commons and is awaiting second reading sometime in February.  Last year we came close with that version of the Bill (Bill C-389) being passed by the House of Commons and awaiting Senate review before being derailed by the last election.

First Pub NIght of 2012! with a presentation by Cover FX.

Hi Ladies! Where the heck did Christmas and new Year's go?! or for that matter 2011?!!!

Here we are on the cusp of another year and our first Pub NIght of 2012! You remember ( I know, it was last year) every 2nd Wednesday of the month:

7:00pm Wednesday, 11th January, Fox and Fiddle on Wellesley st, 2nd (or maybe the 3rd) floor.

This month's presenter is: Cathi, a consultant/specialist from Cover FX. Cathi is coming to address our many skin and cosmetic concerns we may have and help us sort through some of those oft' myterious foundations, primers, powders, creams, blushes, highlights, contouring, etc., etc. You may know that Cover FX was developed at Sunnybrook Hospital especially for challenging skin issues ...and you know that means us!

 So come with all your questions and prepare to leave beautiful.

Xpressions Gala Celebrations 2011!

The Gala was brilliant! So many have said “Best ever!” Once again our thanks to the Xpressions Gala committee, to the staff at the Ramada, Heather and Maggie at the Flying Beaver, Nicki Ward, Vanna (Make-overs) and Margret (our Photographer). I don’t know if you have had a chance to see the photo album posted on the members-only website but browsing through the images is like being there all over again (and just as exhausting!) Congratulations to Pauline, our 2011 Pageant Queen.

Also a big THANKS to all our Raffle prize sponsors: A.S. Electrolysis, Curvaceous Consignments, Direct Energy, Janet Dockree, LJ Laser, Long Legs, Mane Hair, Mikah Styles, Zoey’s and ?? (I am sure I have missed someone and thus I really apologize) While the weekend was full of merriment (after party until 4:00am! Geesh!)

We also had another reason to celebrate: a very well attended Annual General Meeting. The big turnout enjoy guest speaker Nicki Ward sharing some of the turmoil behind the scenes that made up events this year. Nicki, Erin Aspit, Amanda and Sophia have all been inspirational encouraging us to be visible and have dignity in who we are.

The AGM saw the Outgoing Board of 2011: Arden, Donna, Nancy, Roxanne, Sally, Samantha, Sharon, Stacey. I am sure you appreciate all the work these members have made on our behalf. We also welcome the New Board: Alice, Arden, Donna, Lesley, Nancy, Pauline, Sally, Stacey and Roxanne.

And so to begin closing. This year has been a good one for Xpressions, (I will try to review the year in more detail in our timely New Year's edition of the Newsletter.) ; The Queen has her Tiara back; and the New Year looks exciting, so all is well in the kingdom. Happy Holidays and a very good New Year to all. Sally.

Xpressions Gala Celebrations 2011!

All the planning, the Hotel, the Agenda, the Ticket pricing and the many prizes are all nearly complete and the fun has already begun for many.

This is going to be awesome weekend!  Whether you are just curious or an Xpressions members, family, friend or one of the many in our  Trans community, YOU ARE INVITED!
